OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER: MEET SHAVONE CHARLES
Currently, Shavone Charles leads Instagram’s global music and youth culture communications out of the entertainment mecca, Los Angeles. Shavone started her career in music and Silicon Valley after graduating from the University of California, Merced in 2012. All while being a part-time musician and completing an eclectic array of internships with Google, BET Networks, Capitol Hill and others, Shavone took on a full-time role at Twitter in San Francisco, where she spearheaded the company’s global music and culture communications as the youngest person on her team. She became the first-ever African American woman to be hired onto their communications team and dedicated her time off work toward aiding people of color in tech to later help found Blackbird, Twitter’s first-ever employee resource group for African-American employees. Shavone has collaborated with entertainment's biggest names for high impact, out-of-the-box social strategies and communications campaigns including Drake, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Prince, Lele Pons, Selena Gomez, Adele, Kendrick Lamar,The Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks and more.

SPEAKER: MEET SHAYLA JAMERSON
Shayla "ShaylaBang" Jamerson is a native from Oakland California and the founder and creator of SoOAKLAND Collective. SoOAKLAND was created as a safe non-discriminatory event space for the Native Black, Brown communities. This space also served as a place to congregate, support, participate in community service, support business, celebrate and express themselves unapologetically. Shayla has a love for her hometown of Oakland, but when it came to the Black and Brown communities - everything that was highlighted in the media about these communities were negatives. In order to change that perception, she decided to throw events where the natives and people of color could come and truly represent what true Oakland is about. SoOakland was created as a way to hold on to BayArea nostalgia and celebrate the real authentic culture of Oakland (which is going through community changes due to the rapid growth of gentrification). SoOakland is about changing the perspective and breaking stereotypes within the community all while embracing each others beauty and differences and having a great time while doing it.

SPEAKER: MEET JANE HERVEY
Originally from South Texas, Hervey moved to Austin, Texas to study Journalism. Post-grad, she pursued a career in content production, startup management and experiential marketing, which led to the launch of her own content creation studio group work in 2016. In the last two years, she has produced 100+ events and led 40+ campaigns and projects for culture- and community-oriented companies and brands. Hervey's work has always been driven by a wish for gender equality, more equal creative communities and better workplace cultures for all. On top of managing her studio, she runs things at #bossbabesATX, a nonprofit that amplifies and connects women-identifying creatives and entrepreneurs through event series, educational programming and commissions, and she shares what she learns via her column at Forbes about creative entrepreneurship and lifestyle design.

MODERATOR + HOST: MEET JENA DOMINIQUE
Jena Dominique is an Oakland creative who specializes in social media strategy, content creation and curation. Most recently, she has worked as a social media and PR fellow at Oakland's Kapor Center for Social Impact, a non-profit organization which operates at the intersection of technology and racial and social justice and aims to make the tech ecosystem and entrepreneurship more diverse, inclusive, and impactful. She has also held positions with LinkedIn's Learning & Development team as wells as the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center. As a passion, Jena has spent much of her time documenting her world travels in order to shed light on the unique cultural experiences she encounters and also specializes in producing interactive content and presenting her projects and initiatives to large audiences. Additionally, Jena is a co-creator of It's a Look, a visual podcast that covers topics of culture, wellness, diversity, and general #realtalk life advice. Jena will serve as the moderator for the Boss Brunch panelist discussion.
